This service allows you to apply for a permit for car parking shades outside the plot boundaries, in accordance with the terms and requirements specified by RAK Municipality.

How Do You Apply?

1. Visit https://rakdigital.rak.ae and sign in using UAE Pass; select “Request for a Shaded Parking Permit” to begin.

2. Complete the application form and upload all required documents.

3. Pay the application submission fees and the surveyor's visit fees.

4. The surveyor's site visit will be scheduled upon payment of the fees

5. The application will be reviewed and approved if it meets the requirements and standards.

7. Once approved, pay the final fee via the website, the mRAK Smart App, or payment machines at Customer Happiness Centre.

8. Download your shaded parking permit electronically.

What Documents Do You Need?

• Site plan (Krookie): including Title Deed (if available).

• Building Permit: Previous building permit.

• Trade License: Copy of contractor’s valid trade license. Issued by the Department of Economic Development in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah

• Assignment Letter: From the owner, authorising the consultant to open the request.

• illustrative drawings showing the proposed architectural design of the shade, its colour, and its manufacturing materials.

• A Plan showing the proposed location and dimensions of the shade.

What Terms and Limitations Apply?

Terms:

• Construction of shades is strictly prohibited on vacant plots, or in the direction of Sikkas and public facilities.

• Only one shade is allowed per plot. The total area shall not exceed the equivalent of three standard parking spaces, and the length must not exceed 50% of the plot’s frontage facing the road.

• Parking shade must be either cantilevered (fixed to the plot wall) or supported by structural columns immediately adjacent to the wall, while adhering to the heights and dimensions specified by the competent department."

• Parking shades must not obstruct vehicular or pedestrian traffic, nor should they block the drivers' line of sight at intersections. A minimum distance of (6.00) meters must be maintained between the chamfered edge of the plot and the nearest point of the shade.

• Covering or obstructing vehicle entrances and exits is prohibited.

• Architectural aesthetics and the general urban character must be maintained as determined by the competent department. Parking shades colours must harmonize with the building's exterior façade; light colours are preferred.

• Covers must be made of high-quality, UV-resistant, and fire-retardant materials, such as HDPE, PVC, PVDF, PTFE, or equivalent. The use of aluminium sheets or asbestos is prohibited. Solar panels are permitted subject to compliance with approved technical standards.

• Metal components of the shade must be protected against corrosion using approved systems, such as hot-dip galvanization or suitable industrial coatings. A warranty of no less than (10) years must be provided for the structure and covering materials against defects and corrosion

• RAK Municipality reserves the right to request the removal of the shade at any time should it conflict with future projects or public utilities, without any obligation for compensation.

Limitations

• The issuance of the permit is subject to the discretion of the competent department, based on the project location, the nature of use, and the planning and traffic requirements of the area.
